Welcome to

Knysna Baptist Church

Who we are

We preach Christ incarnate, crucified, risen, ascended, glorified and coming again! We aim to bring all people into a loving, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and into maturity as disciples, united in worship, fellowship and service, faithful to god’s word.

Knysna Baptist Church is an evangelical Christian church located in the small holiday town of Knysna, on the garden route about 60 km from George, situated at 5 Kamdebo street, Upper Old Place, Knysna.

We are committed to the gospel and the fundamentals of the Christian faith. We are reformed in our doctrinal beliefs. We love the lord Jesus Christ, we love people, and we love to study the bible.

We are a racially mixed congregation seeking to make a difference for Christ in South Africa.

What to expect at Knysna Baptist Church

Upon entering our church, you’ll be greeted by some friendly faces and receive one of our much-loved bulletins explaining the upcoming events at our church, you’ll also receive a ‘welcome pack’ which will give you some valuable insights about who we are and what we believe.

We are not a big church and on average run between 40-50 people on any given Sunday, we are not focussed on growing in number but rather growing in the grace and knowledge of our lord Jesus Christ.

Being a conservative church by nature, with a distinct ‘reformed flavour’, the services are very structured, and we sing some old hymns as well as some more contemporary songs, however, the lyrics are God-centred and we sing for his glory, with the focus being on Christ and our need for him.

Our services are filled with prayer, scripture reading, singing praises to our lord and saviour as well as the faithful preaching of god’s word.

In terms of what to expect from the preaching, we don’t believe in giving the flock 10min trailers, we delve deeply into god’s word and our sermons range anything from 30min – 60min.

Typically, we do expository preaching where our pastor would systematically preach through an entire book of the bible, sometimes we’ll have a break from this and have some topical sermons.

After the conclusion of the service, we enjoy a time of fellowship over some tea and coffee, sometimes even tasty treats as we catch-up with our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.

For some insight about the leadership at KBC

As a leadership we rest on the superiority and sufficiency of scripture, and as such our preaching has a high view of God and a low view of man, we confront sin and acknowledge our depravity and our need for Christ and his finished work on the cross.

On a more personal note, should someone ask us who we enjoy listening to in terms of sermons, a few names would certainly pop-up, faithful men such as Charles Surgeon, R.C Sproul, John Macarthur, Voddie Baucham, Justin Peters and Paul Washer would certainly be mentioned.

Our hope is that this introduction gives you a better idea of what to expect, should you decide to come visit us.
